The company was founded in 1960 by Janssen de Jong B.V., a Dutch road building company. In 1986, the company was sold to Albo Holding Company N.V., based in Aruba. As a result of this transfer, N.V. Arubaanse Wegenbouw Maatschappij became a sister company of Albo Aruba N.V.

Due to the close cooperation between these two major companies, N.V. Arubaanse Wegenbouw Maatschappij has evolved into a highly respected firm in Aruba’s road construction industry. By the end of 2004, N.V. Arubaanse Wegenbouw Maatschappij returned to its roots when the shares of Albo Holding Company N.V. were sold to the Janssen de Jong Groep.
With its many years of experience, N.V. Arubaanse Wegenbouw Maatschappij is able to carry out any type of project to the complete satisfaction of its clients.

N.V. Arubaanse Wegenbouw Maatschappij is an independent and financially-strong company. AWM is in a position to issue any necessary financial guarantees or securities for projects under construction as well as for its planned, upcoming contracts.

In today’s competitive market, the sooner a project is completed, the sooner an investor is able to realize a profit. AWM helps realize this goal with its ability to be both flexible and accommodating, in a pragmatic way. The N.V. Arubaanse Wegenbouw Maatschappij holds to the motto:

Flexibility makes every project a reality!

N.V. Arubaanse Wegenbouw Maatschappij is able to deliver on its projects with the right people in place with the right tools. Equipment is continuously kept in good repair and replaced when necessary. The company has a balanced stock of base materials to be able to produce asphalt or to do emergency repairs on roads at any time.

By means of a well-managed organization, within which each staff member knows and bears his or her responsibilities, the projects are carried out in accordance with meticulous planning. At regularly scheduled times, project managers consult with clients, so potential bottlenecks are identified, discussed and solved. To view our organizational chart, please click here ZIE BIJLAGE

N.V. Arubaanse Wegenbouw Maatschappij values good communication among its employees. We are able to advance goals by regularly improving our internal administrative processing systems and making adjustments according to the latest developments.
With road construction as its primary task, equipment and the asphalt plant are at the company’s core. The use and maintenance of the equipment, as well as the asphalt production, are centrally coordinated and controlled.

A road building company has its own culture, which clearly differs from a general construction company. The organization has to be very flexible. This flexibility is an important factor in the company’s success.
Without exception, all employees of N.V. Arubaanse Wegenbouw Maatschappij are very motivated and committed to excellence. Thanks to the many years of service of our staff members and our production personnel, and to their motivation and ample experience, the company has proven to be able to carry out any project to the full satisfaction of the client.

Since 1966, the company has focused on stabilizing the number of production workers as much as possible. AWM maintains a permanent staff of approximately 100 employees, with additional production workers hired through specialized companies, when required.
Since 1969, AWM holds a Collective Labor Agreement with its employees. Over the years N.V. Arubaanse Wegenbouw Maatschappij has built a strong and reliable relationship with the unions that represent the employees.
